CETHA 2017

With support from the E-learning Team, Conference on E-Learning and Technology in Hong Kong and Asia 2017 was successfully held on Saturday 4 November 2017 at HKU SPACE Po Leung Kuk Stanley Ho Community College. This one-day Conference attracted over 113 guests from different educational institutes, schools and companies in the technology field.

The Conference started with an opening address given by Prof Lee Keng Mun William, Director of HKU SPACE. It was followed by a Round Table Discussion, moderated by Prof Chan Lung Sang, Deputy Director of HKU SPACE and College Principal of HKU SPACE Community College. Three distinguished scholars, Prof Kong Siu Cheung, Professor of Department of Mathematics and Information Technology from The Education University of Hong Kong, Prof Kwok Yu Kwong Ricky, Professor of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering from The University of Hong Kong, and Dr Lau Ying Kei. Henry, Associate Professor from The University of Hong Kong, were invited as the panelists, sharing their insights into the latest use of technology like MOOC, Virtual Reality in higher education. This session ended with fruitful and inspiring discussions among the panelists and guests about the effective use of online learning pedagogy.

Following the Round Table Discussion, the guests attended parallel sessions of workshop and paper presentation. The workshops covered the use of Big Data, 3D printing, Swift programming language and Virtual Reality (VR) in education. The themes of the paper presentations were the design of E-learning in Canada and Hong Kong, and E-learning across disciplines and subjects. The Conference was highlighted by a sharing session by different teachers and learners about the use of E-learning at HKU SPACE.

Together with the workshops and paper presentation, an exhibition showcased the latest technology such as 3D printing, internet security and VR, as well as their applications in E-learning pedagogy.
