VR Learning Experience in Marketing and Retail Management programmes
In order to utilise the CAVE in teaching and learning, the E-learning Team introduced a CAVE support session for the Marketing and Retail Management programme on Monday, 20 August 2018. At the beginning of the session, the students were guided to experience the VR and CAVE contents/applications adopted in different subject areas . After that, the 32 students were divided into 6 groups and participated in 2 major activities: Making 360∘ videos, and designing a virtual shop layout. These two activities would allow the students to practise designing their own shops, and to experience how their knowledge and skills learned could be turned into real-life projects. They were provided with opportunities to DIY (record → edit → export → transfer) their own 360∘ videos and to share their ideas with classmates in the CAVE setting. Through this development process, the students were able to gain first-hand experience in applying VR content to event promotions.
Experiential learning and peer learning were manifested to the full, from content demonstration to sharing DIY videos using the CAVE facility. All in all, the students found the CAVE activities interactive and educational. Highly motivated by the CAVE, our students are ready to learn and hunt for new knowledge – the ultimate learning outcome!
